Select the option near that bottom that is called Custom Controls. The first item in the list of controls is always the shutter button. Press the Set button on the camera to open the options for the shutter button. Change the setting from the default setting of Metering and AF Start to just Metering Start.
I have canon rebel T3i. It was working properlly when i bought. But suddenly its picture quality started degrading. Pictures looked good in camera but when opened in computer, they were blurry with no sharpness. I tried all modes, auto and mannual focus, but all had same problem. I recently baught t
I'd been using a 70D with the 17-40 lens, but then replaced that with a Tokina 11-20 f28, for real estate jobs. After I got the 5D, I upgraded to the Canon 16-35 lens. The issue is the focusing on the 5D is not as accurate as the 70D. I work on a tripod, and when the shot is framed, I'll press the shutter half way to get the correct focus points.

Within that menu, there's an option to enable "Direct AF point selection" for the joystick (and rear multi-directional pad).

The 18-55 STM, and 18-135 STM (or 18-135 USM) have virtually silent AF that does not move during AF or MF. The 50mm lens has a noisy AF that moves during AF or MF. With both the 18-55 and 18-135, any AF or MF movement takes place inside the lens and is not visible or audible to the user.
The 50/ 1.4 uses Micro Motor USM not the higher end Ring Type USM AF Motor. A lot of Micro Motor lenses DO NOT support Full Time Manual Focus. The 50/ 1.4 is a bit special in this case that it does. It supports Full Time Manual Focus because there is an additional clutch system that Ring Type USM lenses have.
