buy a 6MT w/some dieselgate warranty still on the table.. my MK6 Golf cost me $0.10/mile when I gave it back to VW ~60k miles later, I tracked fuel and maintenance very closely on that vehicle .. my 3L Audi TDI has not cost me anything extra thats diesel related in ~50k miles.. the biggest cost it had associated with its maintenance was due to 20in wheels w/passenger tires on a big heavy SUV
2.0 TDI anyday. Especially for a car the size of a Superb or Passat. 1.6 is underpowered for those cars and gutless. You'll still get 50-55 mpg with the 2.0 on long journeys and decent low end torque for everyday driving and overtaking.
